There’s something about the serenity of the mountains to help slow the pace of life.
Something about the pine smell and the bird sounds that induce relaxation.
Something about how the afternoon sun shines its light on the leaves and shimmers its light onto dirt paths.
And this past weekend we slowed time.
We drove up the mountain and left the hurry behind.
We played games, read books, watched tv, and sipped iced tea. We took walks and looked at cabins and noticed the details of each one.
We observed the birds and the ants and the lizards, scantering about the forest. We made chocolate chip cookies and fried fish and laughed so very much.
And we fished and hiked and felt the coolness of evening breezes, determining to be present in each moment.
And too soon the time came to pack everything up and return.
But we had pictures and memories to pack up too, and much thanks to give for the moments we spent together … moments we won’t soon forget.
With prayers and hopes that you have an amazing holiday week!
What memories have you made lately?
