Divorce feels like failure, and is always full of pain.
I know.
Matt was three when everything changed–his house, who he lived with, and his daily schedule.
I’ll never forget the excruciating moment each Sunday night, as we met in the Thrifty parking lot for me to pick him up from his weekend with his dad–how he screamed, and cried, and reached his arms for his dad, as I picked him up to put him in the car.
The whole thing was heartbreaking and wrong.
In the aftermath of my affair and the divorce, guilt smothered me like a heavy wool blanket, and wouldn’t let me go.
It’s been fifteen years since then, and God has been faithful to help me shed the guilt, and replace it with His truth, as I moved toward Him in small and faithful ways…
There’s a new series starting over at The MOB Society today, a site for moms of boys, by moms of boys. But I know as a mom of girls it could encourage you too!
And today, I’m kicking off their series entitled: Hope for the Messiness of Motherhood. It’s a series offering hope to our mama hearts when we feel like we are failing in this job of motherhood.
Today, I’m over there with the first topic, divorce.
And I’m offering five tips for you if you’ve been divorced–tips for your heart when you feel like a failure.
