Five years ago, over seventy of us gathered for our 20-year high school reunion. And among those classmates was my friend, Kevin Downes.
That night we caught up, as he shared all he’d been doing in the past 20 years, including writing and producing films with his brother Bobby.
Kevin told about the coming release of their latest film, Like Dandelion Dust, based on a novel by Karen Kingsbury.
And he brimmed with excitement to announce, that in just a few months, he’d begin filming a new movie he’d be starring in. A movie called Courageous.
And two years later, that movie Courageous, was released. And we all know how that turned out . . . Courageous was a huge hit! A film packed with values, and pointing us to a renewed sense of purpose and commitment in our families.
And then, last fall, while attending the Allume conference, I saw Kevin again. He had come to promote his latest film project among the writers and bloggers there–a new film he was producing called Mom’s Night Out in association with Sony pictures. And every one of us, after hearing all about it, loved the idea of this movie, and got so excited for it’s release.
And I can’t tell you how fun it was, back in March, to attend a pre-screening of the Mom’s Night Out Movie with a few friends. We laughed so hard, and had such a good time. And before we left, we met Sarah Drew, the star of Mom’s Night Out, and of course they all met Kevin too.
Mom’s Night Out is hilarious, light-hearted, poignant, and heart-felt, all wrapped into one. It’s a story every mom can relate to, and one in which everyone who has a mom will enjoy.
It is the perfect event for this Mother’s Day weekend. And also, it’s a perfect chance to show up, show our support, and make a statement!
Let’s all go see Mom’s Night Out this weekend to tell the world how we want more wholesome movies with messages of values to warm our hearts and make us want to live fuller in every moment of every day.
Won’t you join me in going to see Mom’s Night Out Movie this weekend?
