Last year I joined a small group of women and we set out to participate in The Romans Project with Ann Voskamp and her community. And three months ago we finished that project–memorizing chapters one, eight, and twelve.
And now, since Easter, we have moved on to learning James chapter one as a group, as well as some of us participating with Ann in The Jesus Project, A Year to Fly!
Memorizing scripture has been life-changing to me for so many reasons. And I regret waiting this many years to begin the habit. For years I bought into the lie that memorizing verses in the Bible was only for the super Christian. But now, from experience, I know better.
Scripture memory is not just for a super Christian, it gives Christians a super strength. [Tweet that]
Strength to face trials.
Strength to endure suffering.
And strength to become who God is shaping us to be.
Memorization does not come easy to me. At. All. And maybe it’s hard for you too. But as I began to minimize the distractions in my life, and meditate again and again on the verses for each week, they began to become a part of me–meeting me in such a real way, and helping me experience God in a way I never had before.
And so, I made another video, from me to you! One that gives you some reasons why you should consider memorizing scripture, with a few tips thrown in too.
Why We Should Memorize Scripture (and some tips)

I’m also sharing my previous video about scripture memory over at The MOB Society today, so feel free to click HERE and join me over there too!!
And then, if you have time… I recited The Romans Project on video for you all.
Three separate videos.
All three chapters–One, Eight, and Twelve.
With the hope today, my friend, that you would be encouraged, and that you might join me on the journey!
Because if I can do it, anyone can!
Has something held you back from memorizing scripture?
What have you memorized before?
Why We Should Memorize Scripture
1. We won’t always require an outside source to spend time in God’s Word
2. Scripture becomes a part of who we are–we internalize it
3. We experience God as we meditate and memorize
TIPS

I love your honestly about the difficulty that you faced when trying to memorize scripture! I am glad that you achieved your goal! I wanted a way for my children to learn verses so I created “Keeplets” which are bracelets that allow you to insert a verse so that you can memorize one verse at a time and have God’s Word with you everywhere. I am holding a Rafflecopter giveaway where you can win 2 Keeplets of your choice. Visit http://www.biblekeeplets.net/keep-in-touch/ to enter the giveaway and get your Keeplet! God Bless!
