Mud Stories is a podcast dedicated to bringing you inspiration in your muddiest moments, hope to make it through your mud, and encouragement for you to know, you are not alone.
In today’s episode I’m talking to Lisa Jo Baker—wife, and mama to three kids and a hamster named G-force–who sincerely believes motherhood should come with its own super hero cape, since most days she can’t find her car keys, cell phone, or her mind!
She has said that many mornings she wants to quit motherhood before she’s even eaten her Cheerios for the day, and yet is convinced it’s supposed to be like that–since our God is never done teaching us how to become less of us, and more of Him.
Amen to that!
She’s the social media manager for Dayspring a subsidiary of Hallmark and the community manager of their beautiful site called (in)courage.me, home for the hearts of women. She’s a connector and cheerleader of all women, especially mamas. And she believes we are all mighty because we mother.
Lisa Jo is one of the most generous and encouraging women I’ve had the privilege to meet online. And I’m so very excited to share her words with you today!
In this episode we discuss:
- Her pivotal coming of age story
- Her mother’s leukemia diagnosis when she was just sixteen
- Her mother’s subsequent death
- Life without a mom
- The universal process of grief
- How the scars of suffering make us who we are

SCRIPTURE:
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Cor 4:16-18 (ESV)
