This is Day 11 in the series “31 Days: What You Should Know Before An Affair“
Day 11
Each Sunday of this 31 day series, it is my desire to gather and pause the weight of this conversation long enough to open up our clenched and controlling fists, turn our cupped hands up, and surrender our hearts toward heaven to acknowledge the goodness of our God.
Because no matter what we choose–or fail to choose–He is always good.
I want us to reflect on the truth of His Word, remember the endless mercy and abundant grace He offers us in every single moment, and allow our response to be one of worship and gratitude for who He is and how He meets us in relationship, just as we are.
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.
Truly He is my rock..He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love..Psalm 62:1-2,12 (NIV)
Rest. It’s what our weary, worn hearts need.
A place on which to rely,
Someone to whom we can run to–finding ourselves safe, protected and at peace.
We need to be lead by someone who is in complete control and who is good.
We need God.
He is that place for our souls–our place of rest.
The only One who saves,
And redeems,
And makes us whole again.
When our hope has failed in the wreckage of our mistakes, and we are crushed by the weight of the circumstances we face, He is the comfort we crave–the remedy for our worn and heavy hearts.
He alone gives us rest.
Time and again, because of Him, redemption wins.
In Him our struggle ends.
And He faithfully mends hearts that are frail and torn.
He alone makes songs rise from the ashes of our broken lives.
And what is dead inside is reborn, each and every day, because of Christ.
In the face of our thinning prayers and losing wills today–in the weariness of being worn–may our souls find rest in Him.
Rest in God, who alone has the power to rescue, and save, and love us, with a love that never ends.
A love that never ever fails.
Worn
written by Mike Donehey, Jeff Owen, Jason Ingram
I’m Tired I’m worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I’ve made mistakes
I’ve let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left
Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn
I know I need to lift my eyes up
But I’m too weak
Life just won’t let up
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left
Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn
My prayers are wearing thin
Yeah, I’m worn
Even before the day begins
Yeah, I’m worn
I’ve lost my will to fight
I’m worn
So, heaven come and flood my eyes
Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause all that’s dead inside will be reborn
Though I’m worn
Yeah I’m worn
