This is Day 25 in the series “31 Days: What You Should Know Before An Affair“
Day 25
Each Sunday of this 31 day series, it is my desire to gather and pause the weight of this conversation long enough to open up our clenched and controlling fists, turn our cupped hands up, and surrender our hearts toward heaven to acknowledge the goodness of our God.
Because no matter what we choose–or fail to choose–He is always good.
I want us to reflect on the truth of His Word, remember the endless mercy and abundant grace He offers us in every single moment, and allow our response to be one of worship and gratitude for who He is and how He meets us in relationship, just as we are.
By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
1 John 3:19-20 (ESV)
Sometimes your heart is desperate. The lies are loud, and the fear so strong. Together they try to convince you that you can never change, that you will never be enough, that God can never use you.
You become lost in the midst of all your broken places, believing there is no escape from your failure and the hope inside you dies.
You become paralyzed by fear that you’re failing Him, that you’re not hearing Him right, that you will certainly mess it all up for Him. And the failure of your past mocks you–reminding you of all the ways you’ve failed Him in the past.
But you must know, there’s a will that’s calling you, to dare to believe His truth just one more time. There’s a voice from your Father’s heart, and He is affirming who you really are in Him.
You are in Christ, and God IS greater.
You don’t have to get all straightened out to come to Him. He comes to you as your Savior. And He rescues you from your own self.
Even when your heart condemns you, God really IS greater than your heart. He says so, even though He knows everything you’ve done, all you’ve ever thought, and all you ever will do in the future.
He says you’re enough, because of Christ.
You’re chosen.
You’re righteous.
You’re holy.
You’re marvelous.
You’re deeply loved with mercies that are new every morning, with grace that is amazing and sufficient, and with a love that will never, ever, end.
God. IS. Greater.
God Is Greater
written by Greg Davis & Greg Fisher
A desperate heart is telling lies
Whispering you can never change
The broken part where hope has died
Leaves no escape
Years of failure are mocking you
Still somehow you believe it’s true
God is greater
He comes to you as your Savior
Greater and even if your heart
Condemns you
God is greater than your heart
The will to try is calling you
From the fear that you’re failing Him
Beyond the lies your God is true
And He won’t condemn
There’s a voice from your Father’s heart
He affirms who you really are
God is greater
He comes to you as your Savior
Greater and even if your heart
Condemns you
God is greater than your heart
